Throughout 2009, this site has had an average of nearly 5,000 unique visitors and over 9,000 individual visits, viewing a total of well over 80,000 pages each and every month.

Around 40% of these visitors are in the UK, 20% in the United States, and the remainder spread among Russia, Germany, Ireland, Canada, France, The Netherlands, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Spain, China, Cyprus, Belgium, Switzerland, and a dozen others.

The large majority of these visitors either type the URL directly into their address bar or use a bookmark, but Google sends thousands of people to this site every month, followed by Microsoft's new engine 'Bing' and then Yahoo. Around 10% of the people visiting the site come via links from other Morris-related sites. We've certainly come a long way over the last ten years!

In the main, the site is maintained by me personally, although other members of the Lincs Branch MMOC committee dip in with contributions where possible. It's not possible to say how many hours work has gone into the site over the years - I spend around 5-10 hours per week on it now, but invested hundred of hours on various rebuilds over the years - but it was certainly enough for me to turn down an offer two years ago from a Minor specialist to buy the domain name for a nice saloon he was advertising! I own, or maintain for other people, around 20 websites dotted around the internet but I enjoy working on this one more than any other and I'm always dreaming up new ideas for content. If you'd like to make any suggestions, I'd love to hear from you - there's a contact link within the Lincs MMOC area. I'm currently working on a VIN-plate 'decoder' which will allow visitors to enter their number and get back all the details about their car's original data.

Commercial Advertising on this site

That huge amount of visitor traffic unfortunately has a price in terms of the amount of server space and bandwidth consumed, and keeping TheMinorSite online is a costly business. Alongside that, this site pays for advertising itself, both on and offline. To offset these costs, a modest amount of advertising is offered on some sections of the site, and if you are interested in advertising here you can reach me via the 'contact webmaster' link here.

Current advertisers include moneysupermarket, KwikFit, and Minor Monthly magazine. All the visitor statistics above are available from a verified and reputable statistics package on request.

History of the site

Back in 2000, this site was built from the old remnants of 'Abbyspage', a small site I created in appreciation of the Traveller I then owned. I also maintained the Lincs MMOC pages, and combined these in 2001 into a single new site.

The various monstrosities that ensued are unfortunately preserved for posterity on the 'Wayback machine' right up until I discovered php in 2004 and began integrating the site into a forum, some parts of which still remain today. Many other parts are consigned to internet heaven (or mostly hell) including the online email service (Gmail came along!), 'moveamoggie', and the spam-ridden Guest Book (how did they all know that Minor owners needed that sort of medicine?!).

Throughout all its varieties, though, this site has always sought to be of use to fellow Minor ~~victims~~ owners, and I hope you find it useful/entertaining/pitiful depending on your level of infection. If on the other hand your visit hasn't been as satisfactory as you'd hoped, tell me about it and I'll try and put it right for you.
