Later (because of the large windows) Minor van on the pavement, and what looks like part of an Austin Cambridge in the foreground.
The bus is unidentified! |
No Minor here (that I can see, anyway), but a handsome Hunter trailed by a hi-top Commer van and a MkII Cortina chasing what might be a
Bedford on the kerb |
On the right is a Bedford HA, a MkI Cortina and
(I think) an Imp before a 1000 saloon. To the left is a Vauxhall, but which
type? |
Rare colour picture, Consul on the right and a
P4 Rover(?). Anglia or Prefect on the left. |
Far left is a splitscreen Minor, but whats that
in front of it? A Renault, maybe? |
Somebody emailed me this and I've forgotten who
or when, but its certainly a nice lineup of split windscreen Minors |
Somebody looks like they're regretting buying
that new-fangled Viva bottom right, followed by a Hillman Husky van and a
Singer Vogue. |
Again, no Minors in sight but a very smart
Herald looks out on an Austin 1100, while a Mini and a two-tone Anglia hide
further back |
Minor Traveller to the left, but what of the
others? One appears to be a VW fastback |
MkII Cortina in front of a MkIII, possibly a GXL
with its fancy vinyl roof, and a Minor van behind. To the left is a Volvo
(121?) and a MkI Escort estate |
MkI Escort and Minor van, but whats that on the
pavement behind them? A Citroen DS, perhaps? Further down the road Del Boys
Reliant sits at the kerb |
Definitely one of those quirky Citroens in this
one, and a two-tone 1100 in the foreground |
Hillman Minx estate, Austin A35, and an early
MkI Transit |
Nothing close enough in this picture to
definitely identify, but that looks like a 'sit up and beg' Ford Popular
going out of shot to the left |
Lots to identify in the pub car park, but I was
more interested in the lady walking to the right. What is that
she's wearing!? |
Again, too far away to be sure of anything here,
but I think thats a MkI Transit camper four down on the right, and maybe a
Maxi first left? |
The one that sticks out to me here is the Thames
1500 van approaching behind the bus - I had one of these years back, awful
column change gearbox! |
Anglia and Austin in front of a 1000 Traveller,
not a yellow line in sight! |
Possibly a Hillman Hunter and then something
else in front of the Minor saloon |
Very nice picture, Minor two cars away, and is
that a Standard in front of it? |
Absolutely loads here - 'B' roadster, 1100,
Cresta, Mini, Viva, Bedford van, an unidentified then a Cambridge.
New-looking Triumph 2000 estate navigates the back. |
The Traveller is easy, but what are all the
others? |
Another Traveller, and are those a pair of
microcars behind? |
Herald, Escort, and MkI Cortina (identified by
its its distinctive taillights) and possibly a Reliant van. Opposite, a
swanky Zodiac fronts a Cresta and 1100 while a pretty MkII Cortina with
Rostyle wheels sits at the back |
Two Minors in this lineup, along with an ugly
Standard and others |
Minor approaches as an Austin something goes the
other way. |
Would you believe this is Blackfriars Road in
central London? Sigh... bring back the glory days of no traffic! |
No Minors here, but its interesting to see how
we soldiered on regardless even when it rained a bit too hard. Could you
imagine a postie doing that today? |
Odd twosome, with the tiny Mini being dwarfed by
the imperious Silver Cloud behind |
Another Thames van waits patiently while the
1100 driver gets directions from the traffic officer. Nowadays he'd probably
nick her for driving an ugly car! |
Have a guess where this pic was taken, with a
trio of VW's on the right opposite a Minor? I bet you didn't guess Nairobi,
did you! |
Its worth a look at this classic advert for used
cars from Barclays, where the wealthy are tempted with luxuries like a
heater and screenwashers for their Minx for just £595, while us more common
folk have to put up with a '57 registered 4 door Minor for a mere £245. A
trifling £500 secured a Citroen DS19 though! |
